How Agencies Buy From Civil Safety: A Procurement Guide for Police, Border, Defence and Security Teams
Agency procurement, made simpler.
Buying gear for an agency isn't like buying for yourself. There's a budget line to match, a procurement system to work through, paperwork to file, and usually a deadline you didn't set. Civil Safety is a Canadian supplier based in Nobel, Ontario, and we've set up our process to make agency purchasing simpler.
This post covers what we can source, who it's for, and how to get a quote moving.
Who this is for
Procurement teams at police services, CBSA and CAF units, municipal emergency services and private security companies often need the same things: equipment that meets their spec, a supplier who can handle formal purchasing, and clear answers before anything ships. If you're the person filling out the requisition, this is written for you.
What we can source
- Body armour: available to order. Some provinces regulate body armour; we confirm eligibility when quoting. See Body Armour.
- CBRN and preparedness supplies. Gas masks, 40mm NATO filters and related protective equipment for teams that need to be ready for chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear incidents. See CBRN Gear and Gas Mask Filters.
- Duty and training gear. Handcuffs and restraints for duty use and instructor programs, plus duty and tactical belts. See Handcuffs & Restraints and Duty & Tactical Belts.
- And more. If it's in our catalogue, or close to it, ask. We'll tell you plainly whether we can get it.
How agencies buy from us
Every agency has its own process, so we work with yours rather than the other way around.
- Formal procurement systems. We're registered on SAP Ariba (for federal CanadaBuys opportunities), the Ontario Tenders Portal and MERX, so we can respond where your opportunity is posted.
- Direct quotes. For smaller or one-off purchases, send us what you need and we'll put together a written quote.
- Mixed orders. Need armour, filters and duty gear on the same requisition? We can quote them together.
What to include in your quote request
The more we know up front, the more accurate our quote can be:
- What you need, with quantities and any specs or standards your agency requires
- Your province (this matters for body armour eligibility)
- Your agency or organization and the procurement method you're using
- Your delivery location and any timing constraints we should plan around
